Description

An examination of the psychology and biology of sex and gender differences. The major focus of the course is an examination of the psychological and social factors that lead to the development of sex and gender differences and similarities in behavior. Sexuality and variations in sexual orientation will be discussed. Research on both sexes (biological construct) and gender (consequence of socialization) will be included. Diversity and variation on concepts will be explored.

Description

An examination of basic phenomena in sensory psychophysics and perception. Anatomy and physiology of sensory systems, methodological issues and perceptual theories are considered.

Description

This course examines social work skills and interdisciplinary practice used in health-care settings. A generalist practice model that is based on the needs of people with health care problems, the nature of the health-care organizations, and the use of social workers as health-care professional is explored. Students examine crisis intervention that uses interdisciplinary techniques, case management, and discharge planning, all in the context of the nation's health-care environment.

Students will explore a variety of ways to make social media more than just counting Facebook likes and Twitter followers. Students will develop practical knowledge of analytics and the role social media measurement plays in a communications plan. Students will find, analyze and present social media metrics using tools like Hootsuite and Brandwatch together to show how today's leading communicators drive conversations with strong analytics and reporting, as well as leveraging the power of social networks. Presents a system of strategies that underlie communication. It is a practice-based framework with definitions, conditions, risks, and rewards that inform the moves and motives of influence professionals.
