The Entrepreneurship and Transformative Leadership program is focused on the foundation of developing an entrepreneurial mindset and culture at USG. Through interactive programming, students, faculty, and staff will gain knowledge and skills to cultivate entrepreneurship and apply the entrepreneurial mindset to all work environments.

Bernard Series for Entrepreneurship

This entrepreneurship series is designed to inform and inspire participants in core concepts of what it takes to be an entrepreneur and how an entrepreneurial mindset can benefit anyone in the working world.

Together, We Are Inspiring Entrepreneurship

The second event in the Bernard Series for Entrepreneurship: Together, We Are Inspiring Entrepreneurship was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The program featured four USG partner entrepreneurship programs sharing how they will collaborate to bring resources, mentorship, and programming to our campus as we build the Center for Entrepreneurship program at USG. Together, with our partners, The Center for Entrepreneurship will support student founders and foster an entrepreneurial mindset across the USG campus. The panelists included Camelia Fawzy, Acting Portfolio Director, Digital Entrepreneurship Ecosystem University of Maryland Global Campus; Johnetta Hardy, Executive Director/Founder, The Entrepreneurship Innovation Center, Bowie State University; Mike Hoffmeyer, Managing Director, Dingman-Lamone Center for Entrepreneurship, University of Maryland College Park; Mike Jensen, Executive Director of Entrepreneurship, Salisbury University, and moderated by Kali Gezu, USG Student.

The program was followed by a reception with networking opportunities for students to connect with mentors, faculty, and representatives from USG partner entrepreneurship programs. 

Inaugural Event: The Entrepreneurial Mindset

The launch of the Bernard Series for Entrepreneurship: The Entrepreneurial Mindset was on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. This event featured a fireside chat with Seth Goldman, social entrepreneur and co-founder of Honest Tea, Beyond Meat, and Just Ice Tea, and Dr. Anne Khademian, Executive Director at the Universities at Shady Grove. The conversation was followed by a panel discussion including Mike Hoffmeyer, Managing Director, Dingman-Lamone Center for Entrepreneurship (UMCP); Shaun Taylor, Founder, Black Viking Brewery; Karen Maschi, CEO, Vezza Innovations, USG Equity Incubator Winner; Seth Goldman; and moderated by Dr. Hank C. Boyd, Esq., Associate Dean, Marketing, Robert H. Smith School of Business (UMD).
