The Black Student Nurses Association’s (BSNA) mission is to establish a safe space for African American/Black/African nursing students. The Association aims to provide support services to minority nursing students as they will face challenges in the nursing profession. BSNA aims to educate students by holding events to bring awareness to Black nurses' struggles in healthcare. This association provides community services through public health screenings in Black communities, mentorship, and leadership opportunities to student nurses. As current UMBC-Shady Grove students, members of the UMBC Peer Advisory Team (PAT) serve as a critical point of contact in the successful and seamless transition of students transferring to UMBC-Shady Grove from other institutions.
