After obtaining your USG ID card, you can visit the IT Service Desk for assistance:

You will be able to claim your USG Login and set your password as soon as you have either received your USG ID card or have attended your home institution's orientation.
Your SG number is a unique 9 alphanumeric digits assigned to all individuals while at the Universities at Shady Grove in accordance to the USG ID Card Policy.
USG ID Card
The USG ID card will contain your SG number located below your photograph.
UMD ID Card
UMD students with a UMD ID card will need to stop on by one of these two locations to be provided your SG number:
- SG3 IT Service Desk in Building 3, Room 2101
- SG4 IT Service Desk in Building 4, Room 2397
All users utilizing IT resources at USG must abide by the University of Maryland College Park AUP.
The password associated with your USG Login is valid for only 180 days. Prior to the password expiring, you will be notified via e-mail to change the password. Previous passwords used for the account may not be permitted.
The password criteria will require at least one of each of the following:
- Uppercase character
- Lowercase character
- Numerical character
- Special character
- Minimum of 12 characters
- Cannot be one of your previous passwords
- Cannot include any part of your name
You will use the security questions that you create when you Claim Your Account when you forget your USG Login password. Visit https://shadygrove.usmd.edu/passwordreset and click on link Reset Your Password.
Visit https://shadygrove.usmd.edu/passwordreset and login with your USG Login. Under the Enrollment tab, you can update your security questions and answers.
You must know the answer for each security question to better secure access to your account. You will use the questions and answers to prove who you are when you forget your password and need to create a new one.
The answers to the account security questions are not case sensitive.
