Description
This course will examine development and behavior of various types of children with exceptionalities. Consideration is given to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactive disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, communication, language, and speech disorders, children who have special gifts and talents, are deaf or hard of hearing, are visually impaired, and children with physical disabilities, health impairments, and multiple disabilities.

Description
The focus in this course is on creating stories about the world in 2D. Students will learn about composition, exposure, and depth of field and how these can be manipulated to create compelling photographic narratives. In keeping with fast evolving technology, smartphone cameras will be used for some projects, and AI techniques will be applied, where appropriate, during postprocessing. LinkedIn Learning certification is also offered. Course work prepares students for work in news gathering and documentary journalism, in publishing as photojournalists, product and commercial photography, law enforcement, and research about the climate and the environment.

Description
This course exposes students to the fundamentals of creative thinking in visual communication. The focus is on understanding the principles of message design and the role typography, color and imagery play in creating visual content. Using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, students will develop a body of work for a design portfolio. This course is a must for students pursuing a career in marketing, public relations, advertising, event planning, and other occupations prioritizing visual content creation.

Description
The French Revolution from its origins in feudal, aristocratic society to the revolutionary wars and Napoleonic era. The European reaction to the revolution is examined as is its relationship to the contemporaneous American Revolution. The decline of Court society and values and their replacement by a democratic society are central issues. Two outstanding historical movies are part of the course.

Description
Designed to introduce students to the academic and practical fields of health communication. It blends theoretical concepts and practical concerns that impact upon health communication processes. To be specific, this course extensively covers influential theories and models of behavior change as well as cutting-edge research on health communication interventions or campaigns, exposing students to authoritative work done in both areas. Students in this class will also learn about the process of planning a comprehensive health communication campaign and have the opportunity to work in groups to develop their own campaign plans addressing an urgent health problem.
