What Are Library Study Rooms?

The library has 8 semi-private rooms (1200-R through 1200-Y), with non-locking doors, which patrons may use for small or medium group work.  Occupancy limits range from 4 to 12, depending on the room, and they are equiped with various connected tools.

Study Room Productivity Tools

  • All study rooms have monitors/TVs with ShareLink Pro, allowing for wireless connection from laptops, tablets, and phones (see on-screen instructions in study rooms).
    • For devices incompatible with ShareLink Pro, HDMI jacks are in wall plates below the monitors (cords available for loan at the Service Desk).
    • Power, input, and volume for the monitors are controlled via the panel mounted on the wall.
  • All study rooms have wall-mounted white boards or make use of IdeaPaint (1200-V only), a whiteboard coating for walls

Study Room Access

All study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis unless there are active reservations for the space whenever the library is physically open.  Study rooms may be reserved by a USG student for up to 3 hours/day discussions, meetings, or activities related to USG programs.

Study Room Reservations

  • Currently enrolled students at USG may make study room reservations online using the EMS web app.
    • Reservations can be made between 3 hours and 1 week in advance.
    • Accepted reservations will generate an automatic email confirmation.
  • Reservations must be confirmed in EMS within 15 minutes of their start time, or they will be cancelled automatically.
  • If a room you have reserved is occupied at the start of your reservation, please bring your confirmation email and speak to an employee at the Library Service Desk.

Using a Study Room

  • Whiteboards and IdeaPaint can only be used with whiteboard markers.
    • Whiteboard marker kits are available for checkout at the Library Service Desk.
  • Priddy Library and The Universities at Shady Grove are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
    • Personal items left unattended in a Group Study Room do not ensure a "claim" on the space, and may be removed.
  • Be aware of noise level as rooms are not soundproof and cannot be locked.
  • Leave the room clean and tidy, and take your belongings with you at the end of your session.
