Leadership

Each Industry Sector Hub is co-led by a USG Staff Co-Chair and an Academic Partner Co-Chair, who work together to set goals, guide strategy, and oversee initiatives that connect education with workforce needs.

  • Shared Leadership: Co-Chairs collaborate to align Hub projects with USG’s strategic plan, ensuring they are both operationally feasible and academically relevant.
  • Collaboration & Meetings: Co-Chairs work closely with a Program Manager, convene leadership meetings, track progress, address challenges, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Decision-Making: Together they make informed decisions, resolve conflicts, and set priorities for Hub activities and budgets.
  • Accountability & Reporting: Co-Chairs document outcomes, share updates with stakeholders, and prepare an annual report of goals and achievements.

This co-leadership model ensures each Hub is strategically focused, well-coordinated, and responsive to both institutional and regional needs.

Qualifications: Co-Chair candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must represent one of USG’s academic partner institutions (Academic co-chair); Must be a current member of USG staff (USG Staff co-chair)
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Institutional support to serve for the full term (2 years)
  • Commitment to representing all institutions within the Hub
  • Proven record as a collaborative partner and advocate

Coordination Across Hubs

The Coordinating Committee, composed of the four sets of co-chairs, meets regularly to discuss new initiatives and proposals received and investigate opportunities for synergy across the hubs. Their efforts together contribute to ensuring operational feasibility and positive strategic impact of the collective efforts of the industry sector hub initiatives.

Budget Allocation

Each Hub is allocated a budget that aligns with the academic year to support operational needs, specialized events, activities, and opportunities for funding of innovative and collaborative pilot projects. The Co-Chairs will work with the Program Manager and CFO to ensure budget allocations are responsibly and efficiently utilized and tracked.

Co-Chairs are responsible for making the final decision on priorities for their Hub and the funds to support those priorities.
