The Staff Counselor, Outreach Coordinator in the USG Center for Counseling and Personal Well-being will provide services to students according to assessed campus needs and interests, and will increase the reach and impact of mental health and well-being across campus via consistent marketing and scheduling of events.
The Staff Counselor will collaborate with student groups and other constituents to support and strengthen mental health education and programming efforts to promote student success and personal well-being. Through on-campus services such as academic coaching, career advising, internship preparation, personal counseling, and leadership training, students leave the USG campus with the academic skills and real-world experiences needed for successful careers. The USG Center for Counseling and Personal Well-being fosters learning, growth, wellness, and success throughout the campus community (students, faculty, staff, visitors) utilizing a comprehensive set of counseling, outreach, and consultative services. The Center is dedicated to improving the lives of others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of clinical experience in an ambulatory mental health setting.
Other: LGPC may also be considered with at least 2000 hours of post-graduate supervised clinical work and the ability to obtain a LCSW-C or LCPC license within one year.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of mental health diagnostic conditions, principles of psychotherapy.
Knowledge of group psychodynamics and supervision.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Preferences:
- Licenses/Certifications: Licensed or license-eligible within three months of hire in the State of Maryland as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or similar.
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Two (2) or more years of post-independent licensure experience providing mental health services to adults and late adolescents.
Generalist clinical experience in counseling, consultation and outreach. - Skilled in the provision of face-to-face and tele-mental health services to students; ability to develop and deliver outreach programs and services to students according to assessed campus needs and interests.
- Ability to increase the reach and impact of mental health and well-being awareness across campus through consistent marketing and scheduling of events.
