The Universities at Shady Grove Business Office serves to meet the financial, budgetary, and administrative needs of our center staff, ensuring smooth operations and responsive support for all USG departments. In working with staff, we provide resources, guidance, and financial clarity so that all departments operate efficiently and responsibly.

The Business Office coordinates with the University System of Maryland’s flagship campus, University of Maryland, College Park, to deliver accurate financial reporting, careful forecasting, and effective management of operational funds. The Business Office team navigates university systems to streamline invoicing, accounts payable, scholarship processing, procurement, and budget oversight.

The Business Office is responsible for:

  • Managing accounting and financial systems that connect USG to UMCP’s general ledger, payment and procurement platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Processing invoices, requisitions, travel reimbursements, journal vouchers, and budget amendments, while ensuring timely and accurate payments and records for all USG departments.
  • Serving as a liaison to our nine university partners, coordinating invoice and receivable processing to support collaborative programs.
  • Preparing and coordinating financial closings—monthly and year-end—in partnership with business offices at both UMCP and University System of Maryland.
  • Supporting USG staff and managers by providing transparent budget analysis, financial reports, and guidance for the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Leading all financial and budgetary reporting to the University System of Maryland, the Department of Budget and Management, and the General Assembly.
