Are you a USG student looking for a paid opportunity that will develop your research skills and make a difference? Apply to our Community Wealth Building subject guide project!

The project goal is to develop a subject guide that identifies existing Community Wealth Building (CWB) initiatives and academic literature, providing a central hub for people wanting to learn about CWB. The guide will help users understand CWB concepts and participate in relevant projects. The USG intern will work on a team to conduct a literature review, design the CWB subject guide, and work with stakeholders to address information gaps.

Expectations of the role:

  • This will be a hybrid work model where the students will be asked to meet in person at USG a few times, including an onboarding appointment, initially training, and periodic in-person meetings. The rest of the work will be conducted virtually and asynchronously.
  • Work on a team with one Master's in Library and Information student, one librarian, and one CWB expert consultant.
  • Conduct a literature review on Community Wealth Building and relevant associated academic literature.
  • Design the CWB subject guide, including identifying subpage topics and fully populating the landing page.
  • Support project management, documentation, and record keeping.
  • Communicate with GARN (the CWB Global Action Research Network), and/or other relevant academicians or practitioners to identify information gaps.

Some qualities of a preferred candidate

  • Has conducted a literature search (searched for academic articles) and written a literature review (paper, project, or presentation using those articles).
  • Has an academic background in business, communication, history, political science, psychology, or social work.
  • Communicates frequently and effectively, asks questions and checks for understanding, skilled at time management and organization.
