Program Overview
The 16-month, full-time Master of Science (M.S.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PSC) program integrates basic and applied pharmaceutical sciences with hands-on laboratory research experience to provide students advanced education and cutting-edge training. The program prepares students for high-level research and leadership positions in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and the federal government.
The program is ideal for students with a bachelor’s degree in a science- or engineering-related field who are seeking research positions in industry or government, as well as students considering a doctorate-level degree (Ph.D.).
Based at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), the program connects students with the rich resources of the I-270 biotechnology corridor, including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, research labs and federal agencies that offer potential biopharmaceutical research internships.
Completion of a biopharmaceutical research internship and capstone project are hallmarks of the program. Students gain direct access to potential future employers and hands-on laboratory experience. Students also work with an assigned faculty advisor to tailor their experiences to their unique career goals. A thesis is not required.
