Program Overview
The Information Risk Management, Ethics, and Privacy Minor prepares students to evaluate major information and big data privacy and security issues that businesses and individuals encounter. Students examine the risks organizations face when collecting, storing and managing information and stakeholder data, while exploring practical strategies to mitigate those risks.
The five-course, 15-credit minor addresses information risk management, ethics and privacy in the context of emerging technologies. Students develop skills to understand and evaluate privacy and security challenges and consider how organizations can manage information responsibly.
The minor is available to UMD undergraduate students at the College Park and Shady Grove campuses. Courses can be completed 100% online, with some courses also offered in a HyFlex format that includes an in-person option.
Admission Requirements
- 45 or more earned credits
- Apply during spring for the following fall
- Apply at least two academic semesters before graduation
