Program Overview

The Towson University M.Ed. in Special Education with a focus on Multiple Language Learners at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is designed for post-baccalaureate students who are certified to teach in ESOL-ELD and Special Education. Courses meet once a week in 8-week hybrid sessions, allowing students to take two classes each semester while focusing on one course at a time. Students are admitted each spring as part of a cohort model.

The three-year cohort program prepares educators to strengthen their knowledge and skills in Special Education and Multiple Language Learners while continuing to work full time. Students may have the opportunity to earn endorsement certification in Special Education and ESOL-ELD. The program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
