Program Overview

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Early Childhood Education is an advanced degree program designed to prepare educators for future professional roles, increase competence in their current careers, or provide a foundation for further study in the field of early childhood education. The program is intended for practitioners working with children from birth through age 8 in a variety of educational and community settings.

Guiding principles include an interdisciplinary perspective, collaboration, mentoring, and advocacy, with a foundation in the most current knowledge base in early childhood education and best practices for young children and their families. The program supports individual areas of professional specialization while preparing graduates for leadership roles in the field.

The program follows a cohort model with courses offered on a rotating schedule, allowing students to complete the degree in approximately two to two-and-a-half years.
