Program Overview

In this rapidly advancing computing field, engineering principles balance theory and real-world, hands-on experience. Develop sophisticated gadgets in state-of-the-art laboratories and technology-enabled classrooms, and participate in experiential opportunities to prepare for a variety of career paths.

This two-year, cohort-based program is offered exclusively at The Universities at Shady Grove. The B.S. in Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering (CPSE) offers a curriculum in the core elements of computer science, electrical engineering and computer engineering to design and develop systems that integrate physical processes with software and hardware components. CPSE is the first cyber-physical systems engineering program to be ABET-accredited at the undergraduate level.

Students acquire a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to tackle the complex challenges of designing and managing cyber-physical systems. In addition to earning the B.S. from the University of Maryland, graduates are prepared to pursue careers in software and hardware development, data analytics, application development, cybersecurity analytics and more.

The B.S. in Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering is offered through the University’s A. James Clark School of Engineering, which serves as a catalyst for high-quality research, innovation and learning.
