Program Overview

If you are dedicated to studying life sciences and prepared for rigorous coursework, then Biological Sciences is for you.

The B.S. in Biological Sciences offers a curriculum focused on Physiology and Neurobiology that provides a solid foundation of fundamental life sciences principles. Students are encouraged to participate in research-based and/or clinical internships and are able to take advantage of the diversity of research facilities in the Montgomery County area, including the National Institutes of Health and the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR).

In addition to earning the B.S. from the University of Maryland, graduates acquire the knowledge and skills for graduate training and careers in a variety of fields, including biomedical research and health professions such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and allied health.

The B.S. in Biological Sciences is offered through the University’s College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS), where education, research, scholarship, creative activities and service are designed to accelerate solutions to humanity’s grand challenges.
