Since its launch in 2023, the Industry Sector Hub (ISH) model at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) has enabled staff, academic partners and industry partners to examine more deeply the pathway experiences for students in academic programs at USG that prepare them for careers in Engineering & Technology; Health & Life Sciences; Public Service, Education & Social Sciences; and Business Enterprise. The work across Hubs has been responsive to strengthening pathways unique to each sector. Areas of particular interest have been addressing gaps in recruitment and enrollment, increasing awareness of the USG campus, coordinating experiential learning opportunities, strengthening employer engagement, and integrating competency-based exercises for career preparedness. You can see a history of activities here.

Hub Co-chairs play a critical leadership role in fostering meaningful, collaborative, and sustained relationships between USG, academic partners, students, and regional employers. These connections are vital for building robust student pipelines that directly lead to workforce success and lifelong learning. Chairs will ensure that Hub activities align with the strategic priorities of USG and the pathways framework, focusing on closing gaps and identifying opportunities to strengthen the academic-to-career pathway. By leveraging data and collaborating with stakeholders, the Chairs will help shape recommendations that enhance partnerships and create actionable plans to meet the evolving needs of both students and employers. The Chairs are committed to driving the success of the Hubs through collaboration, communication, and a shared vision for a thriving workforce.  You can see the full job description for the Co-chairs here.

We invite you to use this form to nominate yourself or someone else you believe would make an exceptional chair to one of the Hubs.  This process will close on June 2 after which the results will be compiled and shared with current co-chairs for their recommendations. All compiled nominations and recommendations will be shared with Dr. Khademian for final appointment.  Those appointed will begin their official service as Co-chair on July 1, 2026. There will be an orientation for new chairs and a succession process through which those appointed are supported by outgoing chairs.
