Innovation has been the driving force throughout Jeff Rule’s career. With more than 303 patents to his name at Capital One, Jeff has consistently turned ideas into tangible solutions that shape industries. His inventive work spans finance technology (fintech), consumer technology, digital platforms, and new user experiences, blending creativity with technical rigor. As both a developer and a strategist, Jeff has built a reputation for identifying emerging trends early and transforming them into practical innovations that deliver lasting value. His commitment to innovation extends beyond products to leadership, governance, and mentoring, helping engage and train the next generation of innovators.
Jeff’s work includes leadership and executive roles at several globally recognized organizations. He has held senior positions at Capital One, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where he guided teams through transformative periods in media and technology. He served as Senior Vice President at National Geographic, helping advance the organization’s mission through digital innovation, and later as Chief Technology Officer at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where he applied his expertise to modernize the nonprofit.
In addition to his corporate career, Jeff is the author of two books on web development and streaming video. He is a regular speaker at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business on Technology Strategy. He volunteers at the Kids Museum in Bethesda.
Following his recent retirement from Capital One, Jeff is now focusing on giving back to the community, sharing his expertise in innovation and supporting students through mentorship.
