Jared Smith serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC), the official economic development entity for Montgomery County, Maryland, dedicated to attracting, retaining, and expanding businesses across key industry sectors.
He brings more than two decades of economic development leadership, including executive roles in Nevada’s economic development ecosystem, where he led efforts that produced significant regional impact, including job creation and diversification of local economies. Before joining MCEDC, Mr. Smith worked as Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the City of Henderson and as Chief Operating Officer of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance.
A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), Mr. Smith has been recognized among North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers and works closely with public and private partners to build inclusive strategies for regional competitiveness, workforce development, and business growth. He holds an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University and a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University.
